PIRATES GEAR UP FOR THE NEW SEASON

Pirates are looking forward to the new season having secured their future at the super Braehead Arena.

Despite recent reports, the Braehead outfit are working at full steam in their efforts to secure sponsorship and players for the new campaign.

MD Allan Paul said, ‘Many things have been written recently about the club and it’s good to assure the fans that we are alive and kicking. We have an excellent working relationship with the Braehead Arena management and by agreeing this new contract with them, we look forward to that continued co-operation.

Paul continued, ‘There will be a few changes made over the next few months and one change that WILL take place will be the name of the club. As we are now playing out of Braehead for the foreseeable future and not Paisley, we are currently considering an alternative title to 'Braehead Paisley Pirates'.

We of course hope to secure a major sponsor soon and we are currently talking with some large organisations. If we are successful, and we are confident we will be, then the sponsors’ name will be added to the club title. It is important that we attract as many new sponsors and new fans to the sport and by changing our name it was felt that this would open up new boundaries for us. The important thing is that the name Pirates will remain and we vowed that would always be.’

‘We are constantly keeping tabs on potential players for 2008/09 and by the time the season comes round we are confident we will have secured a roster that will compete with the best and put up a serious challenge in every competition we enter. We are looking forward to moving ahead and once again playing out of the best arena in the country.’

Pirates will also have a new look for the 2008/09 season as the team have launched a new logo and will wear new jerseys with a slight change to the colour scheme.
